The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) is the United Kingdom's principal authority on intellectual property (IP) with responsibility for patents, trademarks, designs and leading on policy for all IP including copyright. We are an Executive Agency of the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS). We are responsible for the role of IP rights in supporting and promoting innovation, helping to protect, define & reward creativity.

The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) is the government agency responsible for intellectual property and we maintain a clear and accessible intellectual property system in the UK which encourages innovation and helps the economy and society to benefit from knowledge and ideas.
