We are seeking a full-time Departmental Lecturer in Engineering with Entrepreneurship teaching who will be based in Central Oxford (OX1 3PJ). The post is fixed term for 4 years to support the delivery of the Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Management (EEM) Pathway within the Department of Engineering Science.
The post holder will be expected to make a substantial contribution to the teaching of the EEM pathway, including delivering and examining lecture courses, as well as other teaching activities, contributing to curriculum development, and supporting project supervision. The role will also involve contributing to the securing and monitoring of internships. Graduate teaching responsibilities may include the co-supervision of master’s and doctoral students. Candidates should hold a relevant PhD, with post-qualification research experience in Engineering and/or Entrepreneurship related to the field of Engineering. Candidates will have an aptitude for teaching and demonstrable experience of supervision of masters and doctoral students, and the ability to supervise research assistants. They may also have experience of contribution to writing proposals and obtaining research grants.
Requirements
Essential
a doctorate in a relevant subject (e.g., engineering or entrepreneurship or another area related to the scope of the post);
business and/or academic entrepreneurship experience relevant to the role;
excellent interpersonal skills necessary for undertaking teaching and the pastoral care of students;
evidence of the ability, or the potential, to provide excellent teaching in lecture, class and tutorial settings;
research experience in a field of Engineering, or focused on entrepreneurship research applied to engineering, commensurate with the level of the appointment;
ability to engage with entrepreneurship initiatives university-wide;
ability and willingness to undertake the full range of administrative duties within the Department.
Desirable
experience of teaching, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, a wide range of topics within the field of Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Innovation;
ability to lead and coordinate the activities of a team of postdoctoral research associates and research students;
ability to attract funding, demonstrated for example by contributions to successful grant applications;
experience of supervising research students;
experience of or an interest in developing links with industry and commerce, for example University spin-out companies.
