The Microbiological Technologists will work in Microbiology QC laboratories to test the quality of sterile and non-sterile finished products, in process control samples, raw materials, ingredient water, ready to use components and environment quality during the testing. You will work closely with production, quality and technical teams to investigate issues and keep supply steady. We value practical lab skills, clear communication, curiosity and a drive to improve. The Microbiological Technologists collaborate across teams to resolve quality-related challenges, support audits and inspections, and drive continuous improvement initiatives for the laboratories.
In this role you will
- Perform routine and non-routine microbiology quality testing following Good Laboratory Practice and local procedures.
- Record, analyse and report results clearly and accurately to support batch release decisions.
- Support laboratory investigations for out of precision / out-of-specification results and deviations for microbiological results.
- Contribute to laboratory improvement projects, and use of GPS principles including Process Performance Management, Problem Solving and 5S to enhance efficiency and quality performance.
- Coach and train colleagues in routine testing and working safely.
-Support internal and external audits by supporting audit readiness, ensuring labs and systems are audit-ready at all times.

Basic Qualification
We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals
- Relevant scientific qualification such as BSc (Hons) in Microbiology, Applied Biosciences, or equivalent, or an accredited laboratory vocational qualification.
- Practical experience of using aseptic techniques and working in a regulated laboratory environment.
-Experience with laboratory instrumentation and basic troubleshooting.
- Strong record-keeping and a data integrity mindset with experience using laboratory documentation and IT systems LIFT / SAP / VQD.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety rules.
- This role is on-site in the United Kingdom and requires working in a laboratory setting during standard site hours.
Preferred Qualification
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus
- Industry Experience in pharmaceutical microbiology or working to Good Manufacturing Practice.
- Core microbiology skills including microbial limit testing, filtration techniques, sterility testing, endotoxin testing.
- Experience supporting investigations, root cause analysis and corrective / preventative actions.
- Experience contributing to internal audits or regulatory inspections.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills and ability to solve problems and identify improvements.

This role is on-site at Barnard Castle in the United Kingdom. You will work with colleagues across Quality. Engineering, Production and Technical teams.
