Sybil Andrews Academy is seeking an inspiring and ambitious Head of Mathematics to lead our dedicated team and shape the next chapter of our success. You will be a driven and innovative leader with a track record of securing strong progress and outcomes at KS3 and KS4.
About the department
The mathematics team is made up of five subject specialists and one ECT2. All our classrooms are fully resourced with interactive screens; class sets of mini-whiteboards and visualisers. The department follow the White Rose scheme of learning and use Sparx maths as a homework tool and for supporting independent study. In KS4 all students are entered for Edexcel GCSE Mathematics and have the opportunity to select GCSE Statistics as one of their KS4 options. In addition, students are given the opportunity to enter for the AQA Level 2 qualification in Further Mathematics. We have a strong culture of enrichment with our more able students In Year 9 and 10 being entered for the UKMT Junior and Intermediate challenges and taking part in the Eureka Maths events coordinated by the Cambridge Maths School. In 2025 81.4% of our Year 11 cohort achieved a Grade 4 or higher, and 58.8% achieved a grade 5 or higher, reflecting our commitment to excellence. For GCSE Statistics this was 93.8% 5+ and 62.5% 7+.
